I was really taken aback when I came across an online piece around Thanksgiving by North Plainfield Police Chief William G. Parenti. While his holiday message regarding safe driving was wholesome in content, isn’t this the same police chief who allowed his son Officer William Parenti Jr. to remain employed with the North Plainfield police epartment after he was arrested for a DWI in 2013?
Having family members that are active with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), I think the overall message by the police in that editorial about safe holiday driving is positive but they may want to look in the mirror for perhaps a new spokesperson, other then Chief Parenti, to promote that message.
